Plane Ride

I took 100 + pictures so it may take me awhile to weed through them and post about our trip! Plus Gracie is sick with a bad cold/fever so I'm a little busy with her! I thought I would narrow it down and just do the plane rides. It was Gracie's 1st time to ever fly on a plane. Even though she was good I am so glad that we won't be doing this for awhile. It was very stressful!!

We left Thursday afternoon at 1 so we were at the airport by 11:30 to eat lunch and get ready for the plane. We had a little time to let her crawl around and tear things up at the gate area.

Once I showed her the window, she loved looking out at all the "things" outside.

Everyone always told me that we would get to board the plane first because we were traveling with a baby. Well, it didn't happen for us. On the way up there, not only were we not first, but we were pretty much dead last to get on the plane. The plane was full, and they finally call us to get on. Everyone is just staring at us because here we come with all of our stuff to keep her entertained. We find our seats and and see that we are in the middle and window seat, which would have been okay. There was an elderly lady on the isle already sitting. I said at least 3 times to here that we needed to get in and she didn't move. Finally we just started climbing over her! (It turns out that she couldn't walk, but how was I supposed to know?) Anyone that has EVER been on a plane can think back and remember how much room you do NOT have and now imagine climbing over a little, old lady with 4 bags and holding on to Gracie. It was a disaster! I was so tired and we hadn't even taken off yet! Luckily it was her nap time and after a few screams and lots of fruit snacks she settled down and slept about 45 minutes.

On the way home, because of daylight savings time it was already dark. We almost missed our flight (but that's a another story :) ) we were dead last to board the plane again but they knew were were traveling with her and switched our seats to the back where we had the whole row to ourselves plus only one man in front of us and no one behind us. It was so much better but still not easy! I really thought she'd sleep but she was up the whole time and we read lots of books, she tore up lots of napkins, and Kelly's plastic cup kept her entertained for at least 10 minutes! The guy in front of us said she did a great job. I told Kelly he must have been deaf! As soon as the shuttle dropped us off at our car, she passed out the whole way home to McKinney.
