Beating the Heat

We had a fun weekend even though the temps were so hot we could hardly do anything. We went to the pool every day last week just to get out of the house (which is so hot and our a/c is not able to keep up). The pool water is also warm but at least it’s refreshing for a few minutes. We actually got a “cold front” and it’s only supposed to be a high of 98’ today, nice!

We went over to Kirk and Alison’s last night to swim and give Maxum his birthday presents. We got his some books and a cool construction hat that has a light and a microphone to talk. It was a hit!

We had a scary moment in the pool with Gracie. We were all swimming and I had her on one of the steps. I stepped out to grab my hat for literally 3 seconds. As I was putting it on and walking back Harley the dog, was swimming toward her and I guess she was trying to move over and stepped off the step and went under, mouth wide open, eyes as big as saucers. Luckily I had Mommy-fast reactions and leaped to her and grabbed her. But it wasn’t fast enough- under she went. She was scared and coughing up some water but safe. It was totally my fault for leaving her. Even though Kelly and Alison and Maxum were in the pool. I’ve always heard more accidents happen at your house or a friends when people are there. Not my finest Mommy moment either. I think I was more scared then here. I literally could have died. I felt so bad. I’ve learned and now NEVER AGAIN!

This morning when we woke up we actually saw dark clouds! Gracie and I did a rain dance hoping, hoping for some relief. She decided to take her baby for a walk. Jack gets confused when she says “walk” and thinks we are really going for a walk outside, poor Jack!

I did a little clean-out this weekend and today some people are coming for our unwanted stuff. Gracie found this tv chair in the pile and thought it was a good nap mat!

I purchased a new camera this weekend and I’m waiting patiently for it to be delivered. It’s a new Nikon and I can’t wait to start using it!! I’m tired of all my pictures looking crappy! I paid extra for it to get here faster so any day now…

Gracie did something pretty funny this weekend. She put on her shoes all by herself 3 times, and on the right feet. They were her little crocs she wears around the house, so not the hardest to get on. We were really impressed she had them on the right feet. She was really proud of herself!!

I’m also in the process of making the blog into a book. I had no idea it was such a lengthy process. It literally could take me all summer. I only started from Oct-now and it was 256 pages. Yikes! Of coarse it’s $ per page so now I’m having to weed out and edit. As if I didn’t have anything else to do with my time…. :)
