Life with a 20 Month Old

Today is our 1st official day of summer break!

I decided what better way to document what we do on this fun, first day of summer.

6:15 am I hear Gracie up talking in her crib. I let her talk a bit and then get her around 6:30 as we all go downstairs to start our day.

I get her breakfast ready and Daddy is off to his last day of school at 6:45. Bye Daddy, Happy Last Day of School! (Except he is teaching summer school and it starts on Monday, poor Daddy. But this summer he doesn’t have to be a classroom teacher, he gets to be a math “specialist” and just help kids in math!)

6:45 She’s eating her breakfast. Today she has some strawberry apple sauce with cheerios mixed in (she does this) and probably a 1/2 a pancake. She likes to eat and run these days and then wants a “snack” every 10 minutes. I have to finally cut her off and say “No more, food is all gone!”

7:00 She plays, I clean up breakfast and log on our laptop to check emails. The Today show is on we catch up on all the latest events around the world. We also hear that it’s going to be a level orange ozone today. Yuck! That means it’ s not a healthy air level. She reads books and tried to walk around in my “shooosh” .

8:00 I decide if we are going to get a walk in we’d better go now. We are not out long- my allergies are a killer right now between the grasses and the flowers, not fun.

We get back around 8:30 and I talk on the phone for a bit while she plays.

8:50 I say “You want to go night-night?” She says “nigh-nigh” and starts walking up the stairs for her 1st nap. Yes, she still takes 2 naps. It is something we are going to work on this summer to “slim” down to one nap. I really can’t complain though- it is a nice time for me to be able to get myself ready and catch up on tivo shows upstairs. At 9:00 I hear her still up talking but she’s content and eventually falls asleep. (Gotta love some peace and quiet!) She sleeps pretty good and around 10:20ish I hear her. I get her up and dressed (again) for our lunch date. I feed her a quick snack. By 10:50 we’re off to the bank, Walgreens and lunch! (ok, I was tickling her feet to get her to smile big!)

11:30 Today we’ve got a fun lunch date planned! We are going to meet my friend Summer and her new baby girl (Lily Grace) for lunch at my favorite, PF Changs. Yumm-o! We don’t get PF Changs very often because Chinese food is the ONE thing Gracie’s Daddy turns his nose up to- even though I ‘ve tried telling him over and over it’s not the regular mushy Chinese food you think of. Owell. It’s a treat for us and we were so excited to see the new baby! Lily was born at the end of April. You can see her blog HERE! They had a nice patio that was sorta shaded so we decided to sit outside for lunch. Gracie loved watching the birds fight over scraps of food! Can I just tell you how adorable Lily Pad is? She is so cute and has a lot of hair. She is also a very good baby. She was awake the whole time and didn’t fuss at all until the end when she was ready for a bottle! Summer and I went to Baylor together and got to live together my senior year. I snapped a picture after our lunch.

Will you just look at my daughter’s face!!! I think she was wondering where that baby was the whole time! She really was good but she was confused by Lily. She kept pointing to Lily’s bottle saying “juice”.

We had a great lunch and an even better visit together. G was really getting tired but luckily I gave her my keys to play with on our drive home to keep her awake. Worked like a charm! We made it home in time for her to play a bit then changed her and she was down for the count by 2:00.

During her nap I started uploading/editing pictures and finished catching up on some tv shows upstairs. I usually try to either stay up or downstairs for her nap so I don’t wake her up. Her room is right off the stairs so we have to tip-toe around! Jack usually parks himself where I am- on the bed- is so ready for a nap himself

This particular afternoon we had workers in our backyard “fixing” some things up for us so they were very loud and I think that is what woke her up. It was 3:35-usually she takes a little bit longer nap. See…still sleepy.

She could hear the workers so she wanted to sneak a peek!

That’s as close of a sneak peek as I’ll let you see… it’s going to be so nice when it’s all done! She kept waving at the workers… so cute!

4:00 She’s more “awake” now and wants to eat. She lets me know by going to her high chair saying “eat, eat” There’s my happy girl!!

(I normally don’t keep putting in bows all the time but I am growing her bangs out (not fun!) so until her bangs grow a little more they are constantly in her eyes and it DRIVES ME CRAZY! I’ve wanted to break down and get the scissors so many times!) For snack she has a pack of 100 calorie cookies (LOVE these!)

Now it’s playtime!

She loves her baby stroller (knocking into your legs) She was trying to get into her diaper bag. And loves sitting in her own little green chair.

I was having fun putting this head band on her, she was not-loving-it! I tried to take a picture of the 2 of us, not an easy thing! I finally got her to sit stand still for a second while watching Barney (yuck!)

In between play time we were having to take Jack out front to try and do his business because we couldn’t go out back. It was so hot and she was wanting to go for another walk, not an easy task!

5:30 Daddy finally gets home!! Yea!! We play for a bit more, try and figure out what we’re having for dinner. Kelly has to take Jack for a walk and G is starving and tired! We decide on our favorite fast food (even though it’s Friday and we usually fend for ourselves!) Chick-fil-a, or as we call it, “The Chick”! Love it! Usually we have dinner at 6 or earlier but by the time we go get dinner and get home it’s 6:30.

7:00 She has a lot of ketchup ALL over the place so it’s bath time right away! Daddy does the bath while I clean up the kitchen.

IMG_1920_edited-1

7:15 time for books! She loves, loves, loves books!

IMG_1925_edited-1

Daddy reads with her too. We end up reading the same books over and over. We know them by heart now! Kelly is getting really tired of me taking pictures!

IMG_1929_edited-1

It’s getting close to bed time! She starts getting really quiet and then we know it’s time!

Oh, how I LOVE THIS GIRL!

Finally it’s time, she gives Daddy hugs and kisses and even some for Jack.

IMG_1931_edited-1

7:30 She climbs up the stairs saying “nigh-nigh” and waving. I give her some hugs and kisses and slip her into bed. She is loving on her lamb. She has this routine that she does every time, she takes one ear of the lamb and rubs it under her nose. So sweet.

Night-Night Gracie Girl, We love you!!

She drifts off to sweet land while I go back downstairs to finish cleaning up and putting things away. Poor Kelly is beat from a rough week/year of school!

I get back on the computer around 8ish to download more pictures and edit and post… This post was way long and has taken me a LONG time to do but it’s worth it!

Phew… I’m exhausted, what about you?

Now I’m off to read other blogs myself then to bed!

That was a long one but oh so enjoyable. Too many miles apart. Wonder when we will see you all again--
You just keep them coming so we can watch her grow.'
Happy summer! GRAMS
