Gracie’s New Playroom

Here it is…. the big reveal….

This is the bedroom we started with. It was our guest room that sadly, was the one room in our house that was not used. We also still have an office/guestroom upstairs. The furniture was mine that I bought after college. It was nice furniture but way too big for this room!

I sold everything on Craigslist and made a nice chunk of change to get started with the play room. In the meantime, the room became a huge toy pit!

You can see we had our work cut out for us. Kelly left for Canada so GG and I hit the stores shopping!

We hit up IKEA because I wanted to get a book shelf like we had in the loft. A few hours later we had carts and baskets full to the brim. Remember my car picture and Gracie at IKEA?

Look at my car, we still had room but we went back to get started!

The first step was to clean out the room and to paint. I had chosen a pale yellow. Paint is so hard to tell. Even though it did look like the paint on the color wheel, on the wall it was just so bright. My dad said we’d get sunburned in it!

I know it’s hard to tell but it was just a little bit too much. So, I went back to Home Depot and decided on 2 shades lighter and we sponged it on. It was so much fun and so fast! It took less than 2 hours to paint the whole room and I love how it turned out!

The next step, my parents put together a table and chairs while we waited for it to dry. Gracie was just beside herself having my parents there at her house, especially her Pop!

Next was the big bookshelf. Not easy!

After a short dinner break I put the little one down for bed and we really got busy decorating the room. My dad hung a bookshelf across the top of the walls for all of mine and Gracie’s sweet dolls that we can’t play with! After hours and hours, it was finally done!

So, drum roll, here it is!………………………………………………….

Can I just tell you how much I love this new room? I said I wanted to play in it!! And Gracie? Well, she went absolutely cray-Z! It was the cutest, sweetest thing!

We still have a few more touches to add and dolls and books to put up but I think it turned out so adorable. I never, ever, ever would have imagined it to look like this but it turned out even better! I know Gracie will have so much fun playing here in the years to come. Thank you so much to my parents who helped put this all together. We did this in the heat of the days here and our house is not exactly a cool house in 105 degrees! Kelly missed out in all the fun. I can’t wait to see his reaction too!.

We can’t wait to have friends over to play, play, play!
