School is in Session!

School is now in session for Gracie and she has had an exciting week so far. She is going to Custer Road Day School on Fridays. It is the perfect day to go because Aunt Ali works that day and cousin Maxum is in his 4 year old class right across the hall from her! My mom will be able to take her and pick her up. Wednesday GG kept her and took her to meet the teacher. She is in the “older 1’s” class even though she is almost 2. She just missed the cut off but that just means she’ll be the oldest in the class. Since she has an October birthday it will be like this the rest of her school experience. (But that just means she’ll be the smartest and most mature, right?!!)

GG had a hard time taking pictures at Meet the Teacher. There were kids crying and throwing fits. Gracie didn’t cry but never smiled!

Leave it to Gracie to find the babies right away!

And that was pretty much all she got! There was one child that was throwing a huge fit right in the middle of the room and so GG said “He” was a huge distraction!

Friday was the big day, her first day of school. I was just sick that I couldn’t take her. I literally has the nervous stomach for her. I think I would have been fine if I could have gone but I just couldn’t have taken off work on the 2nd week of school…

I got all of her stuff out and ready the night before. When we came downstairs Friday morning she found her bag and ran to it!

She was very concerned that her juice cup was empty. And no, she did not wear her pj’s to school. These pictures were taken at around 6:20 Friday morning!

GG met us to pick her up and take her to her house to get Gracie all ready for school. She said it took all morning to get her dressed and looking cute, and to make her lunch! She packed her grapes, blueberries, cheese, crackers, and 1/2 rice krispy bar, and some sort of meat. She only at the cheese!

She looks thrilled, I know!

Luckily when they got there they meet up with Uncle Kirk and Maxum. Maxum was so excited about his new lunchbox!

Maxum gave her a hug and a kiss. Gracie ran with him into his 4 year old room!

At drop off, GG said Gracie was a little teary-eyed and just wasn’t sure. Her sweet teachers gave her her lovie and made her feel better. Aunt Ali checked on her around 9:15 and she was already playing!

At pick up Gracie was so happy to see GG! I think she had a good first day. Her teachers said she loved coloring and the story time. They said she talked to them and seemed like she was having fun. Oh, boy!I was so excited to leave school and pick her up. She was in a great mood (which is new) and seemed very happy. Here is what they did on the first day…

When we got home she ran straight for her guitar.

I thought for sure she’d sleep in this Sat. morning but o-no, she was up around 5:45. I went in her room and told her it was ‘night-night’ time and she just played in her bed until around 6:40ish.

Just a little side note, with school being back in session brings on sickness. Kids=sickness. We are very paranoid around here and feeling sick ourselves. Yesterday at our school over 30 kids (20-25 being 5th graders) were sent home from school throwing up and with flu like symptoms. Doesn’t that make you want to be a teacher?? Kelly and I are both feeling run down and just hoping we don’t get sick….Yes, school is back in session!
