So here is what life with a 2 year old is like on day 4 of being two!
I took today off from school to take Gracie in for her big 2 year well visit. She needed some shots so I just took the whole day to stay and play with her. She woke up at her usual 6:15 and we saw Daddy off to school then had a nice leisurely waffle breakfast. I let her eat at the coffee table. Only for a 2 year old!
Besides, she had too much catching up to do with her babies! Oh how Jack loves when she eats at the coffee table, he just slobbers waiting for a tid bit of food.
We really couldn’t play too long because her appt was first thing at 8:30. I made the first available appt so we wouldn’t have to be around all the sickie people (we’ve got swine flu all over here, like everywhere…)
I got her all dressed and ready in her new cute Tee I got her for her birthday, so cute! Check out their site:Luna B Tee's (the cutest stuff EVER!)
We had to put on a sweater because it was a little chilly. This cute brown sweater her friend Joey got her!
Then the dreaded appt started. Gracie is old enough to know where we are now when we go to the Dr. Even though she’s been fairly healthy, she still knows where we are! She started whining and then when they called us back it turned to crying and then when she needed to get weighed it turned to extreme screaming. We couldn’t use the scale out in the hall, she had to get weighed on the baby scale. It was like pure torture to be weighed and measured. Really, doesn’t she know that’s the easy part?
I know I’m mean taking this picture but is my child the only one that hates the Dr???
Here are her stats at 2 years old:
weight: 25.9 (50th %) I thought she weighed more! height: 33 1/2 in (50th %), head 18 3/4 (50th %)
So, she’s 50th % across the board. A little on the small side, but nothing to be concerned about. She hasn’t lost any weight or anything and is always going through these fun food phases where she just will not eat. The Dr. was impressed with her fine motor skills when I was telling him about the coloring and lacing activities she likes. He asked some development questions: Can she jump? Yes!, Can she use utensils? Yes, since she was 15 months, taught herself! He also asked how many words she knows. I’m not quite sure, but she does talk a lot more lately. He did say in the next year she would probably say and understand from 200-300 words. CRAZY!! Overall she looked really healthy, a little congested so we’re starting on zyrtec again. He did recommend the swine flu mist that they should be getting in this week. I guess I’ll give it to her. I was debating on it. I didn’t know it was a mist spray, better than the shot. The flu is going pretty rapid around our school so I’m a nervous wreck about it! So, that part was done.
Then the bad, bad, part. She got the flu mist and one booster shot. The good news is that it was over very fast and now she’s all caught up until she is FOUR! Hooray!
Even better news for me was that I had a credit so I didn’t have to pay today (love that!). I broke down and gave in and let her have a Dum Dum sucker. She was in heaven! Note to self, do not let Gracie have pure sugar while grocery shopping. Sugar high!
While we were at the store GG called and asked us to meet her for lunch at the Olive Garden, Yummy! Gracie was really pooped and needed a nap but we sorta ate and tried to keep her occupied. What she really wanted to do was run around the Olive Garden and talk to all the people! At the end she literally started crashing on the table.
Thank you for a yummy lunch GG!
Gracie came home and took a 2 1/2 hour nap. She so needed it! I actually took her to Miss Lisa’s house for an hour this afternoon so I could go to the chiropractor.
This afternoon she colored and colored while I caught up on her blog. (It’s taken me forever!!!) I also finished all her thank you notes!
See her sitting in the regular chair? I swear, she thinks she’s 2 now and she’s too old for her booster sit. She throws a fit and WILL NOT sit in it. Owell. We’re trying something new I guess. I did cook a nice home cooked meal of onion crusted chicken bake, potatoes, and fresh green beans. Yummy! Gracie ate 2 bites of an apple, that’s it.
She got a little fussy while I was still cooking dinner so I put her up on the counter to watch me after her bath. Not the safest, I know. But, I never leave her there, I promise! She’s wearing special pj’s. They are Abbie’s that she out grew. Gracie was so happy to put them on. I told her they were Abbie’s and she kept saying “Abbie’s shirt? Abbie’s pants?” She looks pathetic in this picture but she was happy!
Her Daddy finally got home after 6 and then it was dinner and a little play time then BED. 2 year olds are definitely exhausting but I was so glad I could stay home with her and have fun. It made me remember last year when I had every Monday off, the good ole’ days :)
I love you Big Two Year Old’ Gracie!
