Galveston 2012

We had a great week at the beach. Gracie started packing in may! On the way down we stopped to visit Abbie & Carter. We got to see their new baby sister too. Gracie was in heaven :)

It was a great rest stop for us & Gracie loved seeing Abbie & Carter & their house in the forest (as Gracie calls it!)
Back on the road I begged Gracie to take a little rest. Finally she did for about 45 min,

Her poor head. Whatever works I guess! We finally made it to the house. Lots of beach traffic but we made it.

We stayed very busy at the beach! I don't know how the days went by so fast but they did. We did lots of good eating, beach time, games, and watched the Olympics at night after/during crabbing. (Gracie's favorite part!)

In no order here are some more pics I took with my camera. My camera was hating the beach humidity this time. I thought I even broke it a few times my lenses were awful.  I need to figure out what beach photographers do!

GG, Gracie, and I went with Ying and family to Moody Gardens Aquarium. This was our 3rd time but still so great. Ying loved it.

Our last day Pop organized our first annual family baseball game. It was team Hughes against team G! Can you say HOT?? Afterwords we all looked like we'd been swimming we were so sweaty.

Luckily there was a golf cart for shade and lots of gatorade had by all!
Gracie was a good little hitter. Kelly helped her a few times then she actually got a hit all on her own! She was very good at running (no surprise) Even one time she stayed on first base just so she could run home- and the inning was over!

We were able to drive on part of the beach which was great. GG and Pop rented a golf cart so that was nice to use and Kirk brought his jeep out one night so we took a different family pic.

Not easy to get this many people and kids all looking at the 10 second timer!! Luckily with some practice we did get a few shots.

The beach was great. It's not sparkling white sand and water but it works. No dead bodies like last year but we did have some jelly fish and poor Ali got stung by a sting ray (we think). At first we all thought jelly fish but the pain didnt got away and was unbearable and she can take pain like no one else. It was awful. We tried pastes and home remedies and nothing worked. Finally my brother read on line about soaking your foot in hot water and within minutes the pain was gone. Later we heard on the news several sting rays had been stinging people and the cure was scalding hot water. Crazy. She actually got better but now has a bad infection in her foot. Not good.

We had one over cast day and it was perfect! Otherwise when the sun was out it was plain HOT.

Pop's tent. Our 4th time to use and it every year it gets better!

Here's the house. It was called Tropical Waters and was different from the past 2 years. It was smaller but worked well for us. We all slept good thanks to awesome shutters each room had that blocked out the sun. Gracie and all slept until at least 8:30 or even 9 one day. It was awesome!

This blue tutu suit was G's favorite. I had a hard time getting her to wear her other 10,000 other suits.
Pop showed Ji how to fish and he loved doing that.
Uncle Kirk always playing with the kids.
Ying was in love with Kirk. It was hysterical. She'd sit in his lap and hug on him. Alison came and sat down next to them once and Ying pushed Ali to get her out of the way!

I had to post this. This was our bar at the very beginning of the week. Towards the end, not much left!

The last night we all went out to Nates Seafood and then fed the seagulls our bread/crackers.

See, still in the blue swim suit. I even had to hide it from her but she always seemed to find it! Stinker.
We had a wonderful trip and everyone had so much fun. The kids were awesome and played so well together. Gracie especially loved playing and watching cartoons with Ying. Gracie even learned a little
Chinese! Some day later I'll do a phone post of phone pics and then a post on family pictures!
