7 Years Later...

Today, July 10th marks our 7 year wedding anniversary! You'd like that a lot would have changed for us in 7 long years but really the only 'big' change is having Gracie. We're still living in the same house (even though we're trying to sell and NO ONE seems to want it!), in the same town, still teaching, and both teaching at the same school. Crazy stuff. I'm sure in 7 more years thing will look a lot different :)

We spent our 7 year anniversary sleeping in until 6:30 (thanks Gracie), running around cleaning like crazy for our early am showing and afternoon open house. We also watched our wedding video this morning and cracked up!! I got all nervous all over again! Gracie liked watching it too.  We had to be gone all day for the showings and open house. We happened to be dog/house/pool sitting for GG and Pop while they are away for the night. We spent the afternoon in the pool, took naps, took pictures, did more swimming, swam with the dogs, and had the best pizza around! Not too bad!! I sure wish we were jet setting off to Switzerland like we were 7 years ago around this time :)

Some pics we took to remember today!

We tried for a pic with Jack and the one above is as good as it got! With a 3 and 1/2 year old, an 11 year old dog not wanting to 'look' and a Daddy that was ready to get in the pool! Still some good ones. I forgot my remote at home so I had to set up then run back and forth for each shot. Here are some outtakes because I think they are super funny!

I actually like this one above, just wish Jack was looking more!
think they were done?? they were.

Here's to 7 great years and Many, Many MORE to come!

I found this cute printable Daddy book that I got for Gracie to answer questions all about her Daddy. Here are some of the things she said about him.

His Name: Kelly

Eye Color: Black ?

Hair Color: Black

How Tall: Really big

His Job: a Teacher

Where he works: A School

What he does at work: Teaches the kids to all listen

His car: Blue

What she can do in his car: Buckle herself

What she cannot do in his car: Read a book  ?

What he Loves to watch: The Simpsons

I was cracking up doing this with her. I think I am going to do this next year too to see how the answers change. It was super funny!!

I took some videos during the interview too Smile

And the 2 other “Fathers” in Gracie’s Life…

Her Grandpa and her Pop. She thinks her Grandpa is the funniest person and cannot say his name w/o laughing. She loves her Pop to pieces and  loves swimming with him!

We are thankful for the wonderful Daddy’s in our Lives!! Happy Dad’s Day to Everyone!

Teacher of the Year Gala 2011

Kelly got to represent our school this year for Teacher of the Year. We got to get all dressed up and attend a dinner to celebrate all winners and announce a district winner. He didn’t win and he was okay with that (didn’t want to make a speech plus they have to do a lot of work throughout the entire year). I wanted him to win because they get a free Lexus of their choice for 3 months, free, plus gas. Pretty cool! Here are some pics from the night..

I kept trying to get a pic of the 2 of us. I have misplaced my tripod so I was using the counter/plus books/plus more for height. I kept getting it all wrong, see below!

Oops, I said he was too tall for once Smile I even got a few with him alone. He HATED that!

Here we are at the dinner. We got to take home a really pretty flower center piece. I set it out on our counter and it really looked so pretty. 2 days later we got a contract on our house. Maybe good luck?

All the nominees had to walk across the stage area and be announced and shake hands with our superintendent. A bunch of teachers also came to help celebrate with us. When they announced his name to walk they all stood up and YELLED “Mr. Gauger rocks!” Everyone laughed and Kelly thought it was funny!

Congrats Kelly!

Daddy/Daughter Day & Fun With Friends

I'm a whole week late on this but trying to get caught up! Last Saturday Kelly got to have almost the whole day alone with Gracie. This doesn't happen too often. He's been gone a lot but I haven't as much. I had a friend in town from New Orleans that was staying in Denton so a bunch of us around Dallas met up with her. Kelly had to entertain Gracie and Jack for a few hours while we had back/back showings (that's when we go tour contract too!)
Here's what they did...
He took her fishing!! Doesn't she look adorable??? Kelly had just gotten a new iphone so I was thrilled he even took pictures of her! He has more on his phone but I snagged this one because I thought it was cute. He took them to some ponds around McKinney. They didn't catch anything but it was a beautiful day so she said she had fun and was very good! As soon as I saw her that afternoon she told me all about it :)

I got to meet up with fun college friends. Maggie and I made the drive to Denton. It was just about 45 minutes or so, not bad. We met for lunch at Olive Garden and then went to see Bridesmaids. Very fitting for us :)

It wa HILARIOUS! We laughed so hard. Such a funny, funny movie (to us!)

Here we are in front of UR Moms by the movie theater.

It was a short and sweet visit with Leslie, but much needed !

I got home around 5ish and Kelly, Gracie, and I did the happy dance to celebrate our good house news :)

Look Who's Back!

Gracie was SUPER excited to see me pull in her school parking lot today. (Her class was outside) GG and Pop kept her again last night and I am so thankful. We didn't get settled home until after 9:30 with his meds and unpacking. I was so tired and slept good knowing I didn't have to worry about her. GG took her to school to get her back on track again too.

Gracie was even MORE excited to go home and check on her Daddy. She was worried about him. Her words were "Can I give Daddy a hug around his neck?" As soon as we got home she climbed up into his big easy chair and didn't get out!

Kelly is doing really good and glad to be home recovering. He's supposed to take it easy for awhile. No lifting anything more than 10 pounds for at least 2 weeks. He's hoping to go back to work Friday but we'll see :) Thanks everyone for well wishes. We are once again glad this is behind us and very thankful for good nurses and doctors.
