Life’s a Beach

We’re at the beach and it is so wonderful!! We are in Gulf Shores, Al with my family.

We started our long journey here on Friday. We drove all the way to Vicksburg, MS and stopped for the night. We dropped the kids off with GG and everyone else hit the casino! We got joining rooms at the hotel and Gracie and Maxum thought that was the coolest thing!

To say it was a long drive is an understatement. I thought we were NEVER going to get here! We headed out around 9:30 Sat. morning and didn’t reach the house until after 4:30. We stopped and had lunch at the Cracker Barrel and enjoyed shopping in the cute store and rocking in the chairs on the porch.

There was so much beach traffic that we never even thought about- bumper to bumper cars everywhere. When we finally reached the house we all jumped out of our cars and ran to the beach. Here is our house

Here are some pictures of our first day on the beach.

I can’t tell you how much fun Maxum is having on the beach with the sand and water. My child, on the other hand, this is pretty much all she has done- this,

Maxum tried giving her a hug and kiss to help her…

But it just didn’t work…

My biggest fear the whole time before we go here was that Gracie was not going to like the sand because she does not like being dirty- and it came true. She HATES the sand. She cries and screams and cries some more. (Drives me crazy!) Someone has to always be holding her and she still isn’t happy. She loves looking at it and now she is SLOWLY warming up to it but not fast enough.

Pop got us a great tent so here is our set up by the beach

and we even buried my brother in the sand!

So, as you can see we are having a blast so far! It’s rained a little bit off and on but the sun usually stays out and it clears up fast. Tonight we are having family pictures taken. I had all these great ideas for cute family pictures and now with the way my girl acts we’ll be lucky to get any! I do have to say she has been pretty good considering she’s been going to bed around 10 the last 2 nights, has had little to nothing for naps (she is doesn’t ever miss a nap!), and we’ve been eating at random times so she’s all off on schedule and confused. I sure hope she gets in a better mood or it’s going to be a LONG week!
