Jack was my dog. I picked him out right after I graduated from college. He was my little buddy as I was living alone for those single years then became completly attached to Kelly as soon as he met him. Kelly told me he didn't really like dogs, but Jack was different. Jack loved Kelly too. He always loved him for taking him on all those walks, even towards the end when his back legs were not as strong.
I know people think they have the best dog but I'm here to say, Jack was literally the BEST dog in the entire world. Anyone with labs will agree, he was the sweetest, most loving dog. Loyal doesn't even expain him. He was my constant guard dog and companion.
He leaves behind 3 very sad people in a very, very quiet house. Too quiet. My heart is aching to see him and rub his ears one last time but I know he's in a better place, pain free. I truly believe in Dog Heaven and I know that we will meet again some day! He loved Gracie so much and always wanted to sleep in her room!
I am soooo thankful I took so many pictures of him- especially in the last few months. Every time I needed a picture with her, I made him get in it! He always wanted to. He'd see me with my camera and he'd wait by the front door!
He was even in on our little secret announcement! I was really hoping he'd be there for the next baby.
He was such a good dog for kids. He loved Gracie to pieces...
Can you tell how much he was loved? I only hope he knew it. We tried to treat him like a King because he meant so much to all of us. Good-bye sweet Jack. You were loved more than you'll ever know. We know there will NEVER be another dog like you. A vet we once had called Jack "an old soul". I couldn't agree more. As he was going to sleep I rubbed his ears and told him to go find Maggie the dog and jump in the pool, chase the polarus around, and eat as much trash as he wanted to! Love you Jackie!

Again, I'm so sorry, Shannon. I wish you didn't have to go through this. I'm glad you had such a sweet, loving dog in your life. And I'm glad Gracie is handling it pretty well. On a completely different note, I have to tell you how much I loved your hair mid-length like it was back when you met Kelly. Your hair looks great at any length, but I totally loved seeing it longer in those pictures - really pretty!
Truly wonderful post about your sweet Jack, Shannon. He was the sweetest and kindest dog and we will miss him too. Hugs to all of you!
