Ramsey's Birth Day

Birth Day started very early! Like 4am early. We had to be at the hospital at 5:15. Surprisingly I slept pretty well. Gracie was at GG and Pops. We were all alone about to bring a new baby into the world!


My last belly shot! Can I just say what a nice wife I am? I couldn't have anything to eat or drink and I was dying for even a sip of water. Kelly was starving and he had the nerve to go through McDonalds at 4:50 am for breakfast! At the hospital they were all ready for me. Paperwork, lots of questions, then it was into the lovely gown to sit and wait. GG came and kept us company. Finally it was 7:15 and they started prepping me. I had a horrid stomach ache because I was so nervous! I just wanted him to be ok. The unknown is so scary! I said my good-byes then I was quick in the OR. Everything seemed to happen so fast. I got my spinal- was no biggie this time. Just felt a pinch. Most uncomfortable part was having to lean over my big belly and stay still! My anasediologist was just so, so nice. He talked me through everything and was quick and comforting. Soon my Dr came in then Kelly!



I think he was a nervous wreck! I think I asked him 20 times if he had my phone ready to take video and pictures! Soon it was go time. I was all numb and the Dr's had started w/o me knowing. It took about 20-25 minutes to finally get to him. The smell was awful- like burnt hair! Then I heard my Dr say "ok! We are at his home. Here we go!" Them she said "I see light brown hair!" Then she asked Kelly to stand up and he got to see him. I couldn't see anything but I could hear! He was NOT happy :)


Ramsey Michael Gauger- born at 8:00 am on April 8, 2013. 21 in long, 9.1 lbs!


Kelly stayed with him while they finished me up. I think I went into a little shock. I was awake but just could not believe it happened, he was here. I had severe post surgery shakes. I was the first to hold him (after Kelly in the OR) but I was shaking so bad I had to pass him on! Guess who took over?



                         This one! She hasn't wanted to put him down since!!




They took him back to the nursery to get all cleaned up for me.

Meanwhile Gracie got the first Ramsey cookie. I had some cookies made for his special birth day! She had 2 special cookies just for her!


Finally I was wheeled into my Postpartum that would get to be mine for 3 full nights :) I was in shock that I had 2 children now! 2 kids!!


 He was definitely a big guy. Everyone that came in said "Wow, he's big!"

Pop had been in charge of Gracie that morning. She woke him up that morning and they rushed to the hospital to see him being wheeled into the nursery!





              Kirk, Ali and Maxum came up after school.

                     Gracie gave everyone the 'evil eye' when they came to hold him. She quickly got the nickname "Baby Nazi" because she did not want anyone else holding him. Anytime someone did she'd say "Mommy, isn't it my turn yet?? "

   A 9 pound baby comes out STARVING. My milk wasn't in yet of coarse so we had to supplement because he quickly started losing ounces. Poor guy. He was serious about his food!
Our first night was a rough one for me. I was sweating like a mad woman (hormones) meanwhile Kelly was freezing to death. I couldn't get up and had a nurse come check on me or press on my sore stomach every hour. They were checking for blood clots and OMG it hurt so bad it brought tears to my eyes. Awful. I didn't get hardly any sleep. We had him in the nursery because I was unable to move pretty much. The next morning I had my catheter taken out so I was at least helped up. I got my epidural spinal needle out of my back, and then had the pleasure of getting the tape removed from my incision. Another moment that brought me to tears! Once all that yucky stuff was over I was being pumped full of drugs and feeling much better! I was also able to shower and blow dry my hair. I even put on some make up. Felt so good!

Ramsey, You were well worth the pain and torture. We loved you to pieces the moment we saw your sweet face!
