First things first: Gracie is slowly starting to feel better. Getting all the gunk out her nose is quite the task! We kept her home again today and I’m so glad we did. She can just hardly breathe and was even running a low fever still this morning.
and today marks her 28th month of birth!
Now on to the closet clean out…
One of my goals this year was to work really hard at cleaning out and keeping our things organized. To do this, it takes time- like every day- to keep things up. Her playroom closet has been a total disaster since we moved in pretty much. It used to be where I stored Halloween stuff and gift bags/wrapping stuff. Since we made the playroom in there it also became a place to throw toys into. I took a before picture. Look out!!!
I know it looks bad. You can see I tried organizing it before by getting some bins and containers but it was just too much stuff. My question is though, where do you people keep all your junk? I mean everything from camera guide books, markers, some of my old school stuff, pictures, bags, holiday junk, old Halloween costumes… the list keeps going and going. One Saturday while Kelly was teaching Sat. school I got to work. The first thing I had to do was take stuff out. Then her play room looked something like this:
I was cleaning out, and getting stuff ready to sell at the big yearly kids consignment sale I go to. After a few hours and lots of breaks to play with the babies, it looked something like this:
Things just take so much longer to do when you have a 2 year old! (Or any child at any age, I’m sure!) She was watching every move I made. And of coarse started playing with toys I planned on selling!
Finally after a few weeks of continued work it now looks something like this:
I realize there is still work to do but I think it looks 1,000 times better. I got rid of all the Halloween stuff and moved it into our closet upstairs. That made so much more room!! I have some school stuff and ribbon for the bows I’m going to make one of these days. Her toys are in the middle on the hanging dividers. She can easily get to what she wants. Really the only thing I have put up (hidden) is the play dough and the markers. She just needs major supervising when she plays with them! I feel so much better about it. Kelly was impressed himself with my hard work.(and it was hard work!)
Here is what I did awhile back to the closet door:
It has become a little place to hang her art work and cute stuff from school. I’m ready to take this old stuff down and place in her keepsake folder I got for her and add some new stuff :)
