Vegas, Baby!

Kelly and I had a WONDERFUL time in Vegas. Really, what is not to love about Vegas? The lights, people, tons of excitement!! We started off our morning bright and early at 4:45. It wasn’t too hard to pop up out of bed because we were so excited. I just had to take a picture of our suitcases. Which one is mine do you think?

Now here’s the truth!

suitcase

Who says a girl can’t pack light? I did put a few things in his suitcase though! What was amazing to me was how much extra space I had not having to pack for a toddler. All day I kept thinking I was forgetting something. Normally my mind is on if I brought her lovies, blankies, cups, diapers, ect!

We make it to the airport in one piece and think we are doing so great, until we realize we are at the wrong airlines. Kelly told me US, I thought he said United and so we were at gate 1 and needed gate 37 to check to United. Thank goodness we were at the correct terminal! We have a quick little breakfast then our plane is boarding before we know it. We even left the gate ahead of schedule. Our plane taxied out a bit and we sorta hear this noise. Almost like a thud type noise. We come to a stop. A few minutes later our Captain gets on and tells us we are having a brake problem but that they are working on it and it should be a few minutes. Then we hear what sounds just like a manual saw. No lie, it was like someone was sawing the brakes off?? A few more minutes later we hear the dreaded news, it was going to take a little more time than expected and we would have to go back to the gate. Seriously? All I was thinking is thank goodness we didn’t have little G with us! They tell us it could take awhile so we are welcome to get off and they’d tell us some news shortly. Well, we get off because there is NO way we were going to just sit in a plane. We get off and I hear this commotion and people pointing outside. I look out the window of the terminal and see this…

Not a good sign to get off a plane and see fire trucks and firemen in space suits! We walk a little bit and then hear  a really bad message over the speakers. It was going to take even longer than expected and the earliest we would be leaving is 10:30 that morning. 10:30? We were supposed to leave at 7:30!  It wasn’t so bad. We both had books and I people watched. It was disappointing knowing we were losing precious time in Vegas though! Finally around 11 we took off and had a safe plane ride. We were all a little scared when we landed. Everyone gave some cheers!

After we landed and got our bags we were greeted by Kelly’s friends Rob and Stephanie. They are friends of Kelly’s from college. They picked us up and took us to a nice lunch. We were starving!! It was like 3:00 our time! We went to the Yard House and had a great lunch. They took us to our hotel (Bally’s) so we could check in and change to get ready to hit the town. We had plans to see the Beatles Love Show that night. It started raining so that was not fun. I turn into Fluffy-Frizzy head with my wavy hair when it rains so I was not happy. And when does it ever rain in Vegas? Like hardly EVER!

Here we are on the strip across from the Mirage where the show us. You can just imagine loads of people walking getting mad at us for holding up traffic on the street while we took this. But I didn’t care!!

We were so excited to see this fabulous show. This was our 3rd time in Vegas but our very first real live show! To kill time before it started to did some sports betting for the Super Bowl and had a few drinks. We also met up with some other friends to see the show together. The Beatles Show. Let me just tell you the BEST SHOW I’VE EVER SEEN! We were blown away. We had 1st row balcony seats and they were the best. We could see everything! I was so disappointed that there were no cameras allowed inside. But, I was a little sneaky and took some very quick videos during it. And I mean quick! I was so scared they’d come take my camera away. There were Beatle “Eyes” everywhere watching for cameras!

What they did with this sheet was AMAZING! Right after I stopped the entire bottom floor was covered under it and it was all lit up. So cool!

My husband was literally on his feet just mesmerized. It was sooooo good!

Sadly, the end of our show ended our time with Rob and Steph. They had to go to a party then head home. Here is Kelly with Rob.

Stephanie is a 4th grade teacher. We had so much fun swapping teaching stories. Can you imagine teaching in Las Vegas?? She has 35 9 &10 year olds. Yes, 35. There is no limit in Las Vegas to the amount of kids you can have in 4th or 5th grade. She has 35 kids ALL day long for ALL subjects. I was a little scared to talk to her about the 3, 4, maybe 5 kids I work with at a time!   We are so excited for Rob and Steph though. They are expecting a little girl, Alivia in May. Their life is about to change!!

I was so worn out so I went back to our room to sleep and Kelly and friends went out for the Bachelor party.

Saturday we got to sleep in. It was wonderful. Of coarse I still woke up around 6:30 but it sure was nice to lay in bed and not watch Barney :) It was pouring outside too so that was sorta a bummer.  We got up and dressed and headed downstairs. We met up with some friends to venture out for lunch and shopping. I drug Kelly to the Paris casino (one of my fav’s!) and found Gracie the cutest poodle I named FiFi and a cutie pink Vegas shirt for the spring. We people watched, gambled a bit and pretty soon it was time to start getting ready for the wedding. We had shuttle buses take us to the Secret Garden. It was out of the city sorta in the suburbs part. A racket ball club. It was beautiful! I didn’ t get any pictures outside because (surprise) it was raining. They had planned on having the wedding outside but mother nature had other plans. So, we were in a big tent. But it was all lit up with heaters and just so cozy! Here we are after dinner

How did I mange to not get a picture of the Bride and Groom together??? Not sure!

IMG_0617 When the wedding was over we got shuttled back to the hotel. We changed clothes and ventured out to see the water show. My absolute favorite.I could literally sit outside and watch the water shows all day and night. LOVE IT!

And guess what? I was the big winner of the night. I won $180 at a slot machine! Go figure it happened to be a $.25 slot otherwise I could have won more. I wasn’t even really paying attention either. Kelly had gotten up. I had put in only $3 (big spender, I know!) and was just hitting the spin button looking around and I hear “You won, You won” from the machine. It was all lit up. (I wish I had taken a picture but I was too shocked to think about it!) I was like “Kelly!!! I won, what do I do????” We hit the cash out button and it printed my ticket for $180! That sure made the night fun. We used it to gamble with and buy me dt. cokes. Dt. Cokes (pepsi’s) ranged from like $3- $5 at places. Seriously!

All the same it was a wonderful trip. We had such a good time. We managed to drag ourselves out of bed and made it to the airport early Sunday. We got home safely and I was so excited to see Gracie! She was here waiting on us when we got home. She was literally jumping off the ground and screamed “Hiiiiiiiiii! I miss you, I miss you.” She gave us both kisses and did not want to let go of me. I was loving hearing “I hold you, I hold you!” And back to reality fast. It was a fast and furious quick minute because it was time to make dinner, take baths and get ready for her bed. Vacation OVER, Reality is here!
