Today was a special day. It was Gracie’s very last day of school. My mom took some cute, cute pictures but something is wrong with the memory card. We can see them on the camera but not on the computer :( I’m going over there tomorrow to see if I can fix it. I have to have those pictures!!
Since Gracie is now on summer break we are getting right down to business around here. She has a lot of growing up to do and we’re starting this weekend by getting rid of her paci! It is time, time, time. Before she goes to school in Aug. she cannot bring it so there is nothing better than right now to start. She does not have it out in public she just loves it in the car and and naps/night time. I am so over it and have wanted to kick it to the curb so many times. It’s not easy though! She is SUCH a good sleeper and with us both working and having to get up so early for school we’ve just let it go on. I’ve been talking this up for a few weeks now. Telling her the paci fairy is coming to take them because she’s not a baby… she replied, “No Mommy, I am a baby. I need them.” I told her we’d give them to baby Mati a few months ago and she said “No, she already has some. I NEED them.” I’m not sure how it’s going to go but we’re headed to Toys R Us (I’ve NEVER taken her there!!) to pick up some rewards (bribes!) and then we’ll send off the collected paci’s. I’m thinking it might not be so bad??? I’m really going to stay strong and get rid of every last one and just deal with the crying.
As for the potty… I’m also making a HUGE attempt to try and get this girl potty trained. I think we started way too soon. I just got so excited back in Dec. when she was using the potty and wanting. Well, she just wasn’t ready, obviously. She has totally regressed and made zero progress lately. I’ve done some reading, and some shopping so I feel ready to try and tackle this issue too.
The Goods
I am armed with lots of salty snacks and lemonade to drink. We have treats (candy) for going tee-tee and then a price box (Target $1 bin) for going poop. Simple, right???
Reward Chart
At her sitter’s house she gets stickers for going potty and she loves that. I made her her very own chart equipped with lots of scratch and sniff yummy smelling stickers.
And the Kicker:
Her very own baby that actually pees and uses the potty with semi-correct noises on the little toilet. Fun :)
Am I crazy for doing potty training AND getting rid of the paci all in one weekend? Probably. Have I lost my mind? Probably. Are we going to make it? I’m not sure!
On to the house guests…..
Yep… these guys are back for the weekend; Tessa & Maggie. Gracie is beyond thrilled to have them. She was smiling the whole way home as we drove home with them in the back. She was cracking up!
And here’s one little picture I snapped of her. She requested pizza tonight for dinner :)
Wish me luck with the whole potty and paci weekend. I think I’m going to need it!
