Diary of Selling a House, Step 1

We had our realtor out on Saturday to do a walk through. Our house is far from market ready but we did have cleaning people come on Friday :) (Love the smell when you come into a freshly cleaned house!!)

She did the typical walk through writing down the features to our house and giving tips on things. We do have boxes all over the dining room for storage and crap all over ready for our big (2nd one) yard sale. Whatever doesn’t sell is making it’s way to our nearest goodwill!! She seemed to find every little thing wrong with our house and I started bawling when she left. I am sick- I literally had to drag myself out of bed just so she could come by- but still hearing all that made me cry. We have so much work to do.

After she left, I went to bed and Kelly started playing ‘Mr.. Mom’ and was doing chores to get ready. The biggest #1 job is getting our kitchen ceiling fixed. 4 years ago we had a leak from the roof which caused the ceiling in our kitchen to split. Pop (My dad) tried to patch it up himself a few years ago and we left it at that but it needed a professional. Kelly ended up calling handyman.com and someone came out right away. It should be all fixed by next weekend. That’s the biggest thing and we do have little touch ups and stuff to do. I just feel so overwhelmed and there is 0 time. I have to remember that it may not be perfect come Oct. 25 but we are putting it on the market 1 week then we originally planned so it can be part of a big open house gala.

Just a few quick pics…

DSC_0010 We had just had our yard done so I was trying to take a picture. She is hating pictures of herself these days….

And for my husband… I asked him to straighten up his side of the closet. I came back later and was amazed….

IMG_0002 IMG_0003 He had all of his clothes straightened and shoes all lined up on the top shelf AND he vacuumed. Later I asked him what he had done with all his stuff and he replied ‘Well, I hung it all up.” I just stared at him because what a concept uhh? You can hang stuff up??? And then he said “See, sometimes I get a bee up my butt too.” Ha, Ha! Bless him though. He’s been pulling double duty helping to take care of the girl and me and doing household chores to help us get ready…

By the way, how is it that guys can survive with only 10 or less pairs of shoes????? Not fair.

This weekend we are having a yard sale (again) and then taking what doesn’t sell to goodwill and then storing as much stuff as possible :)

Whoa, I miss a few days of reading your blog and come back to A LOT of news! ;) Holy Moly!

First off, I hope you're feeling better. You poor thing.

And what an exciting and nerve-wracking time with the house! I'm sure it will all work out and you'll sell it in no time. :) The thought of having someone walking through our house taking notes on what needs to be done stresses me out...it would be a long list, I'm sure. Hang in there! :)
