Diary of Selling a House…

It’s officially official- our house is on the market!

Some before and after pics….

I am so thankful for all the help we’ve had getting our house market ready. Kelly and I have been working our butts off but outside help has been needed as well. My mom and her friend came up this week and stayed pretty much all day getting our house staged. (I really think they might should go into business doing it!) Pop helped last weekend with his truck taking loads and loads to storage. I don’t know where we had all that stuff now. Here are some before and after shots…

front living room off the front door (the wasted space room!)

                    Not too bad, right????

After:

So much better right? All with just a little re-arranging of furniture we already had.  Now it looks more like a little room to sit and visit in. Who has time to sit and visit in a room w/o a tv these days????

Now the dining room. I really don’t have a real before but our dining room was usually full of stuff. Our school bags, I stored my camera on top, extra stuff, YOU name it! It would look something like this.

Before:

Okay so hard to see because I was not taking a picture of the room but just the table. But you can get the idea, a totally crowded, junk filled space!

Look how pretty!!! We sold the buffet in our garage sale and took all of Gracie’s cars and wagons to storage. They moved furniture over and added a few nice touches and I LOVE IT! You can actually walk through it now!!

Family Room:

I don’t really have a before but this was it…

just VERY crowded. We had big pieces of furniture and a HUGE coffee table. We moved that to storage and rearranged….

I LOVE this too. We have added so much room taking out the big coffee table. We de-cluttered A LOT! Nice Smile

Play Room

Way back in August I started cleaning out. I knew we’d have a garage sale so I started cleaning out her play room. It seems no matter how many times I clean it out we still have so much stuff. (That’s a big reason I requested only books for her b-day too!) So here is what it looked like as I was cleaning out.

Can you find Gracie in all that mess? Ha!!

                       OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!

After 2 garage sales and numerous trips to goodwill here’s what we have…

This is also going to be Jack’s home during the day. We put a gate on the door and people can see in but he stays safe.  He’s not really ‘active’ during the day when we’re not here and this way I won’t have to worry (as much!) about anything happening.

Not much of a change:

The rug was taken out and everything just straightened up. No, the little girl in the pic does not come with the house!

Our bedroom:

Not a before but this is what we have.

We took a big cedar truck out and moved a dresser over and it looks better.

Guest Room/Office

We’ve had an ‘office’ upstairs even though we never used it as an office. It was basically our storage room. It stored all of Gracie’s old clothes in tubs, her crib, 2 strollers, high chair, Christmas and other holiday decorations, tree, my wedding dress, Kelly’s hunting stuff, school stuff. You name it, it was in there! I do not have a before but here’s the after.

DSC_0006-3

It’s a very small room but has a nice walk in closet. We added a bed to show it off as a bedroom and I think it looks nice! Gracie’s crib is now under this bed and parts are under our bed. We forgot to take those to storage!! GG had the bedding and I love it. Love black/white stuff! It’s a double bed so it just might be Gracie’s when we move. We’ll see!

Gracie’s room.

No before picture and we really didn’t do too much. I just took down some things and we cleaned/straightened up.

Her bedroom is a really nice size and has high ceilings so it looks even bigger. She does have a teeny-tiny closet so that has been hard with all her stuff!

I think that’s about it!!!! I love all the changes and now that it’s all nice and clean it’s easier to keep up with. The hardest part is in the mornings. People don’t realize but we HAVE to leave our house by 6:45 am every morning. That gives us time to drive to her school, take her in and say good-bye, then drive back to our school because we start at 7:30. It’s not easy even when you don’t have 10,000 house things to do!!!

Keeping our fingers crossed we get some action going on around our house to get a buyer!!!
