Our Saturday morning as been filled with excitement. Gracie woke us up at 5:30 saying she had slept good and was ready to get up. Lovely. We sent her back to bed at least 2-3 more times before finally letting her in our bed around 6:20 to watch Max and Ruby. A little later we were finishing up breakfast and Gracie fell down the stairs. Since she was born I worried about this but not so much lately, until today. She was coming down (we didn’t even know she had gone up) and she had her juice cup in her hand and I’m not really sure but we heard it. Luckily we were both close in range and I’ve never seen Kelly move that fast. He was there in a split second. Luckily she broke her fall and we think only fell down a few steps. Her face was all red and of coarse she was screaming. Scared us to death. Then we moved on to something even more fun. We’ve had a little un-invited garage guest lately. Not a rat this time, thank goodness, but something just as bad, A SQUIRREL. Yuck o. Kelly had been seeing it for a week and we couldn’t figure out where it was going but we would hear it and see it’s lovely green deposits all over our garage. So finally this morning we decided we were going to have a squirrel clean out. We moved our cars and started sweeting and moving things. It wasn’t long before Kelly found it. It had made a little home in a box left over from our garage sale that just happened to have some of my nice dishes I was trying to sell to get rid of stuff. Kelly quickly found a board to put over it. We had really make a plan and figure out what were going to do. The box IT was in was very heavy and we didn’t want IT to run back on our garage. After some thinking and planning Kelly made a little ramp we slid the box on and I held the board down on top and we moved it to the side of the house. See.
We had to move the tub under the box too because we were scared the box might cave because it was so heavy filled with dishes. Then we had to move on to the next step, remove the board on top to get IT out!
Doesn’t he look thrilled? I was WAYYYY far back. Even though it was just a little squirrel I kept thinking of the scene in Christmas vacation where Elaine from Seinfeld opens the door and the squirrel jumps on her. Horrors!
Kelly was brave and 1, 2, 3, lifted up the board and…..
NOTHING.
See it’s tail sticking out on the right hand side. I really think it was dying or on the verge of dying because squirrels are never that still. I found something for Kelly to poke it with…
and that’s the last of the Gauger Squirrel. He took off fast (while I was screaming!!) He ran to the front and hopefully never to come back again. Kelly disposed of my pretty dishes and that was that. He is so relieved to have that squirrel gone. Poor Kelly was having nightmares about that dumb thing!!
Poor Gracie has a bad cold and I have had yet another sinus infection. The weather has turned a lot colder so we’re hoping it stays for awhile and doesn’t get back to hot again. I got 2 big shots back to back days this week and I’m hoping to finally get well and stay healthy!
