Potties & Paci’s Day 1

This will probably be a pretty boring read for most of you. I really did this for my benefit to have to remember when I am old and can’t remember what happened yesterday!!

7:30 am

Well so far it has been a LONG morning (for me). I first heard Gracie right at 6:10 in the morning. Normally she would lay back down and sit quietly or talk quietly (which she did), but now we have house guests that when they hear a tiny pin drop, the assume it’s time to eat. Gracie was saying “Mommy, Daddy, Daddy, Mommy…” and Maggie heard her over the monitor I guess and started barking. Which made the little one, Tessa start barking too. So I had to just get up. I thought Gracie would come get in bed to watch tv while I fed the dogs but she wanted to come with me. Then we had a few chain of unfortunate events happen. Jack was first down the stairs, as usual. I don’t know if he missed a step or just got caught up and he ended up tripping and fell down the stairs. At least 10 steps, head first on his chin with his legs behind him. Poor Jack. He’s not a young dog, you know. I felt so bad for him. I cannot believe he didn’t break anything. He has to be sore. Gracie laughed, she thought it was funny. Gracie spotted the tee-tee doll right away and she was head over heels with it. She wanted water in the baby’s bottle right away. The baby started tee-teeing right away too. yuck. I ‘m thinking the baby wasn’t such a good idea. I should have known… Then that lead to the next unfortunate event. I got so distracted with Jack then Gracie wanting water in the bottle so I then went to open the back door to let the dogs out and sirens start BLARING..I had forgotten to our alarm off. What a disaster. I then had 3 scared dogs, Gracie saying “What’s that???????” All of that happened in the first 10 minutes of being awake. I was really wishing I could go back to bed and start over.

Paci update: She gave me her paci first thing this am and hasn’t wanted/asked for it yet

Potty: were 0/1  I set the timer for 45 min when we got downstairs and when it went off I said “okay, time to go potty!” She ran in there with me and just sat. Not tee-tee yet. She has on big girl pants too. She hasn’t pottied yet and she’s had a cup of milk/oj.

At this point I’m really hoping to try and rid the paci. There is another factor to this equation that I didn’t mention yet and I can’t, but I will in a few days! This is a big part that makes it harder, for me. I’m not sick or anything so that’s good!

8:05 am the timer went off again and I let the baby tee-tee 2 times showing her ‘how it worked’ and she sat on both potties (her little one and big one) and still nothing. This girl has got to tee-tee soon! I showed her the treats and rewards and she said “Yum” but then went on…

She insists on putting her panties on herself and this is what happens. Lovely :)

1:43  A lot has happened since this morning. We got dressed pretty quick after I last wrote and needed to head to the store to pick up a few things. We were all out of dog food, fruit, and a few other things. I had fixed Gracie some water in her water bottle and a little snack. At the store I wondered why my purse seemed wet, it should have clued me in but it didn’t. It wasn't until I reached in my purse for her water bottle and then noticed the ENTIRE bottle had spilled out into my purse, all over my cell phone. I tried to dry it off but it’s fried. I continued on and then my wallet came into my mind. I wondered if it was drenched too. I looked in my purse and it was not in there. S**T. Seriously, what else? Luckily I remembered buying our pizza the night before and put my wallet in my console of my car. I shoved my full basket to the side and took her out of the basket, walked to the car then came back in to pay for my things. Nice. Then we met an energy efficient attic system man here to look in our attic. Our house is just scorching hot. We’re now going to be getting new insulation and radiant barriers in the attic to try and cool off the upstairs. After he left we jumped in the car to the AT & T store. Luckily i have insurance but it could take 4-6 days before they MAIL ME A NEW ONE. Yes, it has to be mailed. Yuck. So now I’m w/o a cell phone driving around crazy Dallas. Double nice. We then went to the toy store so Gracie could pick out her ‘no more paci’ gift. What did she choose? A new doll. I should have guessed. Another doll to add to the thousands. Owell. I showed her other things and she only wanted it. She also got some sponge bob bubbles! Then we rant to Home depot for a quick tape thingy and then home. I’m exhausted. We ate a quick lunch then I started telling her about nap time, and the crying set in. Saying Good-bye…

She was crying for you guessed it, paci. Crying and crying. I quickly cut off all the ends of the paci’s. I let her have them and she lit up, she was thrilled. I left her room and she was quiet for a minute then crying “Dis not working, I want a nudder one.” (Don't you love toddler talk???)  I showed her the bag and she was happy once again then mad. “A nudder one, please, Mommy?” She knows just how to get me! I stayed strong and said “They don’t work for you anymore because you’re too big. They only work for babies now.” I patted her back and gave her some water then left and now it’s been over 10 minutes of peace. We’ll see how long that lasts. And about potty training, well that is not happening. I put her in a pull up to the store and she ended up wetting and pooping in it when we got home. We might have to try that one NEXT weekend :)

8:18 pm Well, it wasn’t too bad for the first nap w/o paci. She ended up sleeping about an hour and 20 minutes. She was crying when I went in to get her, still upset over the pacies. I tried to get her to potty after her nap and she threw herself on the floor crying. Just a little dramatic, right? I’m giving up on the potty right now. Just one hurdle at a time, okay? She had a popsicle for snack and then we packed up the car to head for a dip in GG and Pop’s pool. She wasn’t that interested. The water was a little cool so we didn’t stay long.

We ran a few errands then picked up Chick fil a for dinner. I got her 4 nuggets and she ate every last one of them and a handful of blueberries! That is very unusual!! We played a little bit with the dogs then bath and then it was bed time. After her “I don’t wanna go night-night yet” talk she said “where’s my paci?” I told her again that she was too big for her paci and she said “to the babies?” Is she starting to get it? After prayers hugs & kisses she went to sleep and I’ve heard nothing from her room! I really, really hope she sleeps good (for both of us!) and maybe we can cross this off the list of ‘to do’ things!  Until tomorrow!

Ugghh! Good luck with the pacis (and potty training)! I'm starting to think about that for Cora, and I'm DREADING it!

I have to say it again... YOU ARE SUPER MOM! Seriously. The # of things you tackle in a day for your little one, plus the dogs, is purely amazing. You're doing a great job, and I think she's done with her pacifiers! Go Gracie!

I'm glad to hear Gracie isn't quite ready to potty-train because neither is Avery! My niece (who is not even TWO!) is almost completely trained now, but Avery could care less. I want to get it done this summer so hopefully we will make some progress. I haven't even thought about paci-training, Avery only has hers at naptime/bedtime, but I also give it to her when she's cranky and inconsolable. I know I shouldn't, but it's such an easy fix! Good luck and I hope you survive the rest of the weekend without Kelly :)
