First Day of Summer

Today was our 1st official day of summer. I really thought Gracie would be a sweetheart and sleep in a bit but no, she was up and ready to go by 6:15. At least she did come get in bed with me for about 20 minutes. Man, was I tired! Doesn’t she know that on summer breaks we can sleep in?? Kelly started summer school today so he was up and gone early. Gracie is just non-stop. As soon as her little feet hit the floor in morning she rearing to go. Luckily she stops for a nap but those have been short lately because it’s so freakin’ hot in our house. But what I’m trying to say is that she is definitely going to give me a run for my $$ (or non $$, moms to not get paid and should!) this summer. We ran a few errands this morning and then we had our first swim class. She was not really wanting to go because she thought she’d have to go under.

She did not have to go under, like I thought she would either. They do not recommend dunking kids under water anymore 3 and under. She did do a lot of good swimming things though. She glided good, kicked, let me put her on her back, and scooped her hands. She really impressed me. There were some screamers too so that was interesting. She seemed to really have fun so that’s good. Notice her putting her fingers in her mouth? That’s her new thing and it totally gets to me. I swear, we got rid of the paci now she’s found some other bad habit. I’ve even been telling her if she keeps putting her hands in her mouth we’ll have to go to the Dr and get shots. I know, mean, but sometimes you’ve just gotta do scare tactics! It works, sometimes…

We had a good morning and but it got so hot again she hardly napped and we were both in bad moods. We even got out and went to Sonic but that didn’t help either. When Kelly got home I was on the verge of tears I was so hot and had a throbbing migraine. Poor Gracie’s little head was warm. (something has got to be wrong with our a/c, it got up to 85, inside our house. Someone is coming out tomorrow) There was no way I could cook dinner so we went out to get out of the house. We had Schlotzsky’s and it was yummy!  We love that place. That was our 1st day of summer. If this heat keeps up we might just have to move or something. Our house just is the biggest pit ever!! Freezing cold in the winter, a sauna in the summer. We can’t win.
