Trial Run

Wednesday and Thursday we had a trial run for Gracie’s school. Her school was very gracious and allowed her to go 2 days for just a few hours to get used to the new routine. Wed she just went for 2 hours and 4 hours on Thurs.  It wasn’t easy getting all dressed and ready and out the door at 7:50. (Normally we’ll be leaving around 6:45 am) I was a little nervous for her just hoping she liked it and had fun.

Guess what? She did great. Way better than I could have ever imagined. She was clingy at first and could have cried but didn’t. We stayed just a minute and met the other kids (she’ll have 8 in her class with 1 teacher and 1 teacher assistant).  She has several girls, so YAY! She is not used to that :) They were going outside so we quickly escaped to our car. While she was at school Kelly and I did some Back to School shopping. I was anxious to get her!! When we got in they had just returned from music and she was painting a picture for us, a giraffe. She saw us and didn’t come running over to us. She said “Hi!” and kept right on painting. I think she wanted to stay. She even gave both teachers a hug and said “Bye-Bye”. We couldn’t believe our eyes! Who is this girl??? Seriously though, I am so relieved and feel so much better. She went back Thurs while I had a few meetings at school and she did good again.  I’m just so thrilled!! Now tomorrow she goes all day for the first time. But she’s happy because GG gets to pick her up. Tues am we have this very early pep rally we have to go to at 6:30 am so she will spend the night there and GG will take her to school on Tuesday morning. I’m hoping for a smooth transition this week!!!
