Late Wednesday afternoon we heard on the tv that all schools around here would be closed again for Day 3. The roads were just too dangerous for all the buses. People up north don’t realize how big our school district are. Some are neighborhood schools but there are so many kids I guess it was just too dangerous. (fine by us!) I planned a few ‘preschool-ish’ things to do to keep Gracie occupied. We read “Chica Chica, Boom-Boom” and did some fun things with it.
She sponge painted the coconut tree and then painted a tree that we later cut and glued together. Then we made snowflakes with coffee filters and I also let her watercolor on a coffee filter.
We took breaks and played outside some too. She got easily bored/tired of Mommy teacher and wanted to do her own thing so I didn’t push it. Mostly we just tried to keep from going INSANE! I got so tired of being cooped up that I announced around noon that we were going out to lunch! We didn’t go to far but there were cars everywhere. People were out and about. The ONLY things closed were daycares and schools! I thought for sure we’d have school on Friday but late Thursday afternoon it got announced that all schools were cancelled for Friday too. So, we headed to Wal-Mart because we were running low on food. Kelly and Gracie stayed in the car while I ran in to snag a few things. Most shelves were almost empty, it was BAD! I managed to find a few things and after dinner Gracie and I made blueberry muffins for the next day.
She just loved licking the spoon
I just have to say. Thank goodness for portable DVD players and our dVr. We did watch a lot of tv too but what else were we supposed to do???
Here is all the art work she did the past 3 days.
Earlier in the afternoon we went for a long walk and it was pretty cold! Friday night we got told we’d get a light dusting of snow and boy did we!
